VCU Film Department

So VCU has three different avenues you can take with film.  You can get a Cinema B.A., Photography and Film B.F.A., and Kinetic Imaging B.F.A..  The Cinema degree is the closest program to us because it focuses on both theory and productions, as well as, has the students working in small groups rather than individually.  However, students are required to have either two minors or double major to earn this.  Also, Cinema focuses mainly on narrative film.  The Photography and Film focuses on actual cinematography rather than theory, and the Kinetic Imaging degree deals with experimental and animation.  The crazy thing with reading about these degrees is that UNCW’s film studies major actually hits on all of three of these degrees.  Also, it seems really intense that students HAVE to double major or get TWO minors in the cinema program. Plus, that major is a three yearlong program.  The school looks like a really awesome school, but I don’t know how I feel about breaking down film that much at an undergraduate level.  I kind of like being able to pick and choice what mode or flavor of film I feel like for the semester.
